BIOGRAPHY
Sophie trained at Central St Martins College of Art. She works in both theatre and dance, being a co-founder and Associate Director of seven sisters group dance company. She is a Director and committee member of the Society for British Theatre Designers.
Work includes; Blackbird and The Difficult Unicorn (directed by Jane Howell at The Southwark Playhouse), Full Moon (Theatr Clwyd, tour and Young Vic), The Tempest (Shared Experience International Tour), Rape of Lucrece (Angelus Arts), Twelfth Night, If I were lifted up from earth, The Tempest, Pericles (A and BC Theatre Company), Macbeth, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Under Milk Wood(BADA).
Sophie has designed the costumes for all of seven sisters group pieces, choreographed by Susanne Thomas, which include; Salome (St Pancras Chambers), Silence (Round Chapel, Hackney), Trainstation (Kings Cross, Waterloo, Nationally and Internationally), On Stage (The Place Theatre), Concrete (Royal National Theatre), Doubletake (Selfridges Store), Removed (London Contemporary Dance School Library), Jerwood 10X8 Stairworks, 02, (Wapping Power Station), Ballroom (Royal Festival Hall), The Forbidden (Royal Opera House).
Sophie's work was chosen to form part of the British exhibit at the Prague Quadrennial 1999, 2003 and 2007. Great Britain won the Golden Triga for the 03 exhibit. The PQ 07 exhibit, 'Boxed', is currently on display as part of the Collaborators exhibition at the V&A.
Sophie recently curated an exhibition at CHELSEA: space called When Marcel Met Motley, about the collaboration between Motley and the architect Marcel Breuer. The exhibition is due to be remounted at the V&A in September 2008. She is writing a book about the London Theatre Studio and Old Vic School.
